Day 1
Safari Lodge Arrival
Your adventure starts with an early pick-up in Johannesburg or Pretoria, followed by the 4 to 5-hour drive to Madikwe Safari Lodge. After a late lunch upon arrival, a short rest, and high tea around 15:00 or 15:30 (winter and summer), you will depart on your first game drive in Madikwe Game Reserve in an open safari vehicle. Experience a spectacular African sunset while relaxing with a sundowner. After the first stars start to appear, watch out for predators like lion, leopard and both spotted and brown hyena, as well as porcupines, bush babies, honey badgers and other interesting nocturnal animals. Day 2
Madikwe Game Drives
Enjoy a hot drink and rusks before your sunrise drives start around 06:00 (summer) or 07:00 (winter). Enjoy some coffee, Amarula and traditional South African rusks and muffins on the drives while watching the sun rise over the bush. You will return to the lodge in time for brunch. After brunch, enjoy some relaxation or participate in an optional activity. After high tea around 15:00 or 15:30 (winter and summer), you will depart on your game drives in an open safari vehicle. Experience a spectacular African sunset while relaxing with a sundowner. After the first stars start to appear, watch out for predators like lion, leopard and both spotted and brown hyena, as well as porcupines, bush babies, honey badgers and other interesting nocturnal animals. Final Game Drive & Farewell
Enjoy a hot drink and rusks before your last sunrise drive starts around 06:00 (summer) or 07:00 (winter). Enjoy some coffee, Amarula, and traditional South African rusks and muffins on the drive, watching the sun rise over the bush, and be back at the lodge in time for brunch. Our first Big 5 Safari Tour was nothing short of incredible! From the very start, the excitement was unreal and it only got better with every moment out in the wild. Seeing lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalo in their natural habitat was absolutely breathtaking. Our guide Martin was knowledgeable, passionate and made the whole experience even more special. It’s something we’ll never forget, truly a once-in-a-lifetime adventure! But we will repeat it as we still have to „hunt“ leopard 🐆 hehe
