The Sirimon to Chogoria Route is widely regarded as the most scenic trekking route on Mount Kenya, offering a perfect combination of breathtaking landscapes, diverse wildlife, and spectacular mountain scenery. The trek begins on the drier northwestern side of the mountain through the Sirimon Gate and descends via the lush and picturesque Chogoria Route on the eastern side.

Day 1
Nairobi – Nanyuki /Sirimon/Judmier Camp (Old Moses Camp) 3-4 hrs, 9km, 860m ascent
Pick up at 7 am from Nairobi Hotel and proceed to Sirimon Gate, 1 hr, 2440m. From the gate follow the track as it winds uphill though the forest which becomes heath land after about 3 hrs. About 3½ hours from the gate the track veers right to Judmier Camp, 3300m for dinner and overnight. Day 2
Judmier Camp/Shipton Camp 6-7hrs, 14km, 900m ascent
After breakfast, follow the track uphill, forking left at the junction. After one hour from Old Moses Camp, the track crosses Ontulili River. Go right contouring through the Moorland and crossing Liki North and continue uphill to Mackinders Valley from where there are panoramic views up the valley towards the main peaks. Day 3
Shipton camp
Spend the day acclimatizing to the high altitude in preparation for the summit attempt. After breakfast, embark on a scenic acclimatization walk from Shipton’s Camp to Kami Hut, enjoying spectacular views of the surrounding peaks, valleys, and unique alpine vegetation. Continue the hike to the beautiful Hauseberg Lakes, including Hauseberg Tarn and Nanyuki Tarn, which are nestled amidst the rugged mountain landscape and provide excellent opportunities for photography and relaxation. After enjoying the tranquil surroundings and breathtaking views, return to Shipton’s Camp for a hot lunch or refreshments, followed by some time to rest and prepare for the summit ascent. Dinner will be served in the evening, after which you will spend the night at Shipton’s Camp, resting ahead of the early morning trek to Point Lenana. on Mt Kenya All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)

Day 4
Shiptons/Point Lenana/Mount Meru Bandas (Chogoria Gate) 6 hrs, 14km, 785m ascent
Leave at 3am up a steep stony quarry that cuts through a cliff clearing visible part towards lower Hall Tarns arriving point Lenana at 6:30am, taking about 3hrs. After the sunrise, descend down to Mintos hut, 2hrs, for breakfast and further hrs down to shipton camps, for dinner and overnight. on Mt Kenya All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)

Day 5
Chogoria Bandas/Chogoria/Nairobi
Descend 2hr, 15km to forest clearance to catch a 4×4 transfer vehicle to Chogoria Village where you will connect with your transfer vehicle back to Nairobi where you will be dropped in your hotel/ airport. Breakfast & lunch (Dinner not included) Drinks not included

Excellent Tour and well organized
Communications with Esther Mbuva from Toto Tembo were clear all the time. We paid using credit card and the comission is expensive, but it is safe to do it through Toto Tembo. Our driver and guide in Amboseli was always very kind. The Serena lodge in Amboseli is fine but looks old and needs a renovation.

Simply the best.
The drive was amazing. Our expectations were met and exceeded. We liked how our service provider kept communicating and making follow ups before, during and after the drive just to make sure that we were well taken care of.
