Windhoek to Sossusvlei

Day 1

Windhoek to Sossusvlei

You'll arrive at Hosea Kutako International Airport and be welcomed by your local guide and onward journey via Rehoboth and Maltahöhe to the lodge. Amidst a relatively dense forest area of camelthorn, sweet-thorn, and candle acacia lies the historic town of Rehoboth. Like many towns in Namibia, Rehoboth was once a mission station. It is inhabited by the “Baster” community, which consists of the descendants of people of mixed ancestry who, under their leader Hermanus van Wyk, moved across the Orange River and settled in Rehoboth in 1870. Maltahöhe was founded in 1900, lies 111 km west of Mariental, and was named after Malta van Burgsdorff, the wife of the commander of the garrison in Gibeon. The cemetery east of the town contains more than 40 graves of the German “Schutztruppe” who died in numerous battles against Hendrik Witbooi and in the Nama uprising. Included activities • Sundowner dune drive Overnight: Desert camp. Day 2

Sossusvlei to Swakopmund

Before sunrise, you'll start from Hammerstein (with breakfast packs) and drive to Sesriem, the entrance gate to Sossusvlei/Namib Naukluft Park. Here you have the opportunity to climb one of the highest dunes in the world. Sossusvlei is a dune wonderland, with dunes up to 300 m high surrounding a huge, dried-up pan. The dunes stretch as far as the eye can see, and their rich hues vary from pale apricot to bright reds and oranges. During a good rainy season, the Tsauchab River flows into the pan, creating a haven for waterfowl. Even in the dry season, oryx, springbok, and ostrich can be seen feeding on the sparse vegetation along the watercourse. After a visit to the park, you'll depart for Swakopmund. Included activities • Visit the Museum and Aquarium Optional activities • Boat cruise, air balloon safari, World’s Oldest Desert, Sky diving & Desert living museum tour Overnight: Sandcastle B&B and Self-Catering Apartments. Day 3

Swakopmund

After a lovely breakfast at our hotel, you can take a city tour with an excursion to Walvis Bay, or explore this picturesque and beautiful town at leisure on foot. You'll enjoy a sumptuous lunch at a restaurant of your choice in Swakopmund. Walvis Bay is Namibia’s main port town and is increasingly becoming a desirable place for a coastal holiday. Attractions include the lagoon with its rich birdlife, which is home to a total of some 80 000 wading birds, including flamingos and the rare white pelicans. Included activities • Visit to the Lagoon Overnight: Sandcastle B&B and Self-Catering Apartments. Mid-range self catering accommodation located in Swakopmund (City) Breakfast & dinner (Lunch not included) Drinks not included

Swakopmund to Waterberg Plateau National Park

Day 4

Swakopmund to Waterberg Plateau National Park

After a leisurely wake-up and a luxurious breakfast, you'll set off for Namibia’s extremely popular Waterberg. You'll drive via Usakos, Karibib, Wilhelmstahl, and Otjiwarongo. Lunch at Crocodile Ranch before we drive to Waterberg Camp and check in. Originally known to the Herero as Kanubes, Otjiwarongo is said to mean “beautiful place” or “place of fat cattle” as the area is known for its cattle farms. Situated about 250 km north of Windhoek, on a hillside amid rolling plains, the Otjiwarongo District is home to many guest farms and lodges. Two interesting features of the place are the Otjiwarongo Crocodile Ranch, where crocodiles are bred, and the Cheetah Conservation Fund, an internationally renowned organisation. The CCF’s mission is to ensure the long-term survival of the cheetah through research, conservation, and education. Included Activity: • Catching a glimpse of the rare and endangered sable and roan antelope. (Game Drive) Overnight: Waterberg Resort. Mid-range hotel located inside Waterberg Plateau Breakfast & dinner (Lunch not included) Drinks not included

Day 5

Waterberg Plateau National Park

After an early breakfast, you will have a morning plateau hike for 2-3 hours. Your hiking guide climbs the plateau with you (approx. 150 m above the plains). He explains plants and animals in the park to you and gives you an insight into the daily life and culture of the Herero people living in this area. Terrific view of the valley or of the plains of the Kalahari, and in the afternoon nature trail whereby you explore the valley of the nature reserve "Botanical Garden". You will dine under the stars and enjoy the romance of the fire until the wildlife calls of the night fade away and you fall asleep. Included activities • Hiking Overnight: Waterberg Resort. Great tour company and amazing value for money

Booked a 6 day tour from Windhoek to Etosha National park (2n), Swakopmund (1n) and Sossusvlei (2n), all accommodation camping included, food, transport, guide. It was simply amazing and great value for money. Our guide/driver Martin was like family to us. Took good care of us at all time. The tour company was great too and very accommodating, friendly and good communication throughout the process. Definately recommend the tour company and tour itself.

An excellent overview of Namibia in a short period of time!

The 6-Day Etosha, Swakopmund & Sossusvlei tour exceeded my every expectation. My guide, Henzel, was highly professional, engaging, and had a great sense of humor. He made my solo tour not only informative but fun as well. The tour provided the highlights of Namibia within a short time span without feeling rushed. I appreciated the mix of history, nature, and adventure that the itinerary provided. The amount of wildlife seen in Etosha National Park was incredible. I was able to see lions, rhinos, zebras, elephants, a honey badger, and so, so many more. The campgrounds used for lodging, while not luxurious, provided running hot water for showers and good food at the camp restaurants, which was glorious after an adventure-filled day. I do recommend wearing layers as it's cold at night in the winter months as well as bringing a power bank/portable battery charger for convenient charging of electronics. I appreciate Henzel and everyone else at Safari World Tours who made my time in Namibia a once in a lifetime experience!

"Must have" tour for a Namibia smooth visit!

We did the "7 Days Wildlife Etosha and Sossusvlei Namibian Safari (Accommodated)" with Safari World Tours in December 2023 and it was the best choice for our family! We are experienced travelers (49 countries visited) and found that to travel to Namibia with a small child (4 years old) a tour would the the best option, which now we can recommend 100%. First we asked for the budget and itinerary, then we booked the tour and exchanged a lot of information and Safari World Tours was always very fast to answer and provided all the details we needed. Very professional and trustworthy, their representatives made us feel even before leaving that the trip was well organized. They had a child seat for our daughter to use in the car and were always on time for all the appointments. Our guide Henzel was amazing, the perfect balance between being professional, funny, enthusiastic, informative, knowladgeable and trustworthy. He took care of us the whole trip, drove safely, knew all the local details, assumed the arrangements and left us with the easy task of just enjoying ourselves and this beautiful country. We thought 7 days would feel rushed, but it really didn't. We visited all the places we wanted and still had time to relax by the pool, beach or restaurants. Did some great extra activities as well. All the accommodation booked was high standard and the food was delicious. Couldn't recommend this company more and their responsibility for the success of our Namibia trip! Ask for Henzel, go with your family and you won't regret it ;)
