Day 1
Arrival at Melchior Ndadaye International Airport. Depending on your arrival time, our company representative will welcome you and transfer you at the hotel relax and begin a city tour of Bujumbura including monuments, historical sites, local markets, and a visit to the Living Museum of Bujumbura. Day 2
Drive to Kibira National Park for a forest experience and scenic views. Continue to the Teza Tea Plantations and visit the Batwa community for a cultural encounter, The Batwa are an indigenous, traditionally hunter-gatherer minority in Burundi, comprising roughly 1% of the population. Formerly forest dwellers, they were displaced from their ancestral lands due to conservation policies, forcing them into extreme poverty, with many now working as unskilled laborers or surviving through pottery and begging. Day 3
Drive to Gitega. Visit the National Museum of Gitega, meet local communities, learn how traditional banana beer is made, taste local food, and visit the Gishora Drum Sanctuary. The Gishora Drum Sanctuary and National Museum of Gitega are premier cultural sites near Burundi's capital, offering a deep dive into the nation's royal heritage. Gishora features traditional, high-energy, UNESCO-recognized drumming, while the Gitega Museum showcases historical artifacts, photographs, and, traditional instruments like the inanga. Day 4
Excursion to the Karera Waterfalls followed by a visit to the Source of the Nile (Burundi). The day includes nature walks, photography, and cultural explanation. Overnight in Gitega or nearby, Gitega known as the former royal seat of the Kingdom of Burundi, it is famous for the Gishora Drum Sanctuary, the National Museum of Gitega, and its, central location surrounded by, rolling hills. Day 5
Drive back to Bujumbura. Enjoy a relaxed afternoon by the lake followed by an evening exploring restaurants and nightlife.
