Day 1
Meru National Park is a Kenyan national park located east of Meru, 350 km from Nairobi. Aside from the scenery and wildlife, tourist attractions include the once home of George and Joy Adamson, Adamson's Falls, the burial sites of Joy Adamson and Elsa the Lioness, views of Mount Kenya, and the Tana River. There are two routes to access travellers to Meru, through the main gate known as Murera Gate and through Ura Gate. We shall use the Ura gate through the park and exit through Murera gate and to our hotel, Ikweta Safari Camp located outside the park. The park is home to a huge variety of animals, including the Big Five; lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and Cape buffalo. Zebras and gazelles are known to roam free across much of the park, grazing on dry yellow tufts of grass. The rivers around the park are also home to a lot of wildlife. Within the murky depths, crocodiles. Hippos can often be seen sunbathing on the banks of the various rivers and lakes across the park. Day 2
After an early breakfast, we shall depart to Samburu national reserve. Arrive at the gate and make a game drive enroute to the camp for check in and lunch. Head for afternoon game drive till sundown. Samburu National Reserve is one of the lesser-known national parks, but is nevertheless teeming with life. Situated alongside the Ewaso Nyiro River, there is plenty to attract wildlife from the surrounding Savannah plains. The reserve is rich in wildlife with an abundance of rare northern specialist species such as the Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, Gerenuk and the Beisa oryx (also referred to as Samburu Special Five). Dinner and overnight at Samburu Simba Lodge. Mid-range lodge located inside Samburu NR All meals included Drinks not included
Day 3
This full day in the Samburu Game Reserve will be spent searching for the big five, the Samburu five and observing the vast unspoiled scenery during morning and afternoon game viewing drives. The park is plentiful with crocodiles that bask on muddy riverbanks and velvet monkeys that frolic in the late afternoon sun. Samburu is renowned for its rare species of fauna known as the ‘Samburu five’. These five particular animals are usually only found north of the equator – the long necked gerenuk, the reticulated giraffe which is characterized by its liver-colored geometric patches defined by narrow white lines, the Grevy’s zebra which is smaller than the common zebra and looks more like a horse, the beisa Oryx with black horizontal stripe running across its lower flank and the Somali ostrich males which have blue-grey necks and thighs. Dinner and overnight at Samburu Simba Lodge. Mid-range lodge located inside Samburu NR All meals included Drinks not included
Day 4
On this day after an early breakfast we shall head to Aberdare National Park for a day trip. It covers the higher areas and the Aberdare Salient to the east. Created in 1950 to protect the forested slopes and moors of the Aberdare Mountains. The Park has Elephant, Lion, Rhino, Black Leopard and the beautiful but elusive Bongo Antelope. We shall do a short treck safari through the park. Aberdare National Park is best known as the site where in 1952, Elizabeth II became Queen after the death of her father King George VI, whilst staying at the Treetops Hotel. Head to our hotel, Ranges View Lodge or Abai Lodge & Spa or similar for late lunch and relaxation. Dinner and overnight at Ranges View Lodge or Abai Lodge & Spa. We shall arrive in time for lunch and check in. Then explore the Ol Pejeta Conservancy which is a protected area in Kenya that hosts diverse wildlife, including endangered species like rhino, wild dog, the Big Five and chimpanzees. Ol Pejeta Conservancy is a remarkable destination, offering both traditional safaris and a prime opportunity to witness wildlife conservation efforts firsthand.
