Arrive at Lusaka Airport & Transfer to Mukambi Safari Lodge
On arrival at Lusaka’s Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, you will be met and transferred to Mukambi Safari Lodge. During the 3.5-4 hour long transfer, you will leave behind the busyness of the city and slowly be immersed into the African bush’s unique soothing atmosphere. Your private transfer guide can answer any questions you may have along the way. Arrive at Mukambi Safari Lodge in time for tea break and afternoon activities to include a sunset boat cruise or afternoon game drive. Alternatively, you may of course also opt to simply relax at the lodge by taking a dip in the pool or enjoy a massage. Upon your return to the lodge, dinner awaits you. Explore Kafue National Park from Mukambi Safari Lodge
Mukambi Safari Lodge overlooks the stunning Kafue River and is also known as “the Gateway” to Kafue National Park, Africa’s largest national park. Spend today exploring Kafue National Park and enjoy the large variety of activities that Mukambi Safari Lodge offers. From game drives (morning and afternoon), walking safaris, fishing trips by boat on the Kafue River (basic equipment and bait supplied) to boat cruises (including a sunset cruise). There is something for everybody’s taste and liking. Experience African wildlife such as such as elephants, lions, leopards, wild dogs, cheetahs, hippos, crocodiles as well as antelopes and a plethora of birds. Later on, you may decide to schedule a visit to the Mukambi Community School or simply relax alongside the lodge’s infinity pool, overlooking the vast Kafue River before embarking on more game activities in the afternoon. Dinner under the star lit canopy of the African sky awaits you upon your return to the lodge. Day 3
Game Drive Transfer to Fig Tree Bush Camp
This morning a 1.5-hour game drive will transfer you from Mukambi Safari Lodge to your next destination, Fig Tree Bush Camp. Arrive at Fig Tree Bush Camp in time for brunch and check into one the camp’s four tented chalets. The chalets are built on 3-meter high platforms above the ground, either offering a spectacular view over the Shishamba River or facing the plains, overlooking the watering hole in front of the camp’s infinity pool. After settling into your room, enjoy the afternoon tea break followed by an afternoon game drive. Return to the camp for a delicious dinner underneath the Fig Tree, after which the camp is named. Day 4
Explore Kafue National Park with Fig Tree Bush Camp as your Base
Fig Tree Bush Camp is an authentic and rustic bush camp located in a more remote part of Kafue National Park. During the next two days, you will have many opportunities to get to know this area, its wildlife and interesting mix of vegetation. Fig Tree offers game drives (morning and evening) and walking safaris. Apart from plains game such as antelope, you can look forward to sightings of predators like lion, cheetah, leopard and hyena, as well as the wild dog. Fig Tree’s guides have a wealth of knowledge which they will share with you, from the insects on the ground, to the birds in the sky and everything in-between. Should you wish to take it a bit slower, simply relax at the camp, take a dip in the pool or have an afternoon rest in the hammock overlooking the lagoon. In the evenings, you will return to the camp with the fire ready and time enough to enjoy a wholesome dinner under all the stars the night sky has to offer. Game Drive Transfer to Mukambi Safari Lodge
After your early morning tea, another1.5-hour game drive will have you waving good-bye to Fig Tree Bush Camp and transfer you back to Mukambi Safari Lodge for your last night inside the Kafue National Park. Arrive back at Mukambi Safari Lodge in time for brunch followed by a tea break and afternoon activities to include a sunset boat cruise or afternoon game drive. You will have an opportunity to experience what you may have missed out during your first two nights at Mukambi. Enjoy a last delicious dinner at the lodge. Road Transfer Back to Lusaka
Today you will bid farewell to Mukambi Safari Lodge and the Kafue National Park. Depending on your travel itinerary, you may still be able to enjoy a morning activity such as a game drive, guided bush walk, a fishing trip on the river, or a visit to Mukambi’s community school. Alternatively, relax at the lodge before an approximately 4-hour private road transfer will take you back to Lusaka’s Kenneth Kaunda International Airport for your onward journey. This was my fourth safari, and my favorite one. From day one, Christelle and Gondwana proved invaluable. She was responsive, professional, yet incredibly personable and genuine. She had granular knowledge and opinions on each safari destination and accommodation, and took thoughtful care to engineer the perfect safari for my fiancé and I. The attention to detail was second to none. It was abundantly clear that she listened and understood our personalities and our safari ambitions. On a personal note, she was instrumental in helping me propose to my fiancé on this trip. Sparing the details - it was a personal and intimate moment, and it would have been impossible without her connections and acumen on/in the region. She subsequently went to grand efforts to make sure that we felt loved and recognized on this trip through various incredibly thoughtful actions. Outstanding Operator
This was my first safari, and everything down to the tiniest detail was amazing. Christelle and Gondwana Tours did the best job at creating a unique and personalized trip for us. There was no need to worry about anything - they were attentive and exceeded at fulfilling our wants. It was a vacation of a lifetime. Our 6 night safari started in Victoria Falls, passed through Chobe, and ended in the Okavango Delta. I'm not used to having so much help with planning and coordinating a trip, and it was such a treat to have everything taken cared of. We were afraid that it could be touristy or cookie cutter, and it ended up being the most thoughtful trip we've ever taken. I cannot recommend Christelle and Gondwana Tours enough.

Perfect Honeymoon - Safari and beach
Steffi Presske and her team from Gondwana tours and safaris planned a magical honeymoon trip for us. We started of visiting the Victoria Falls, continued to Chobe National Park, then two different camps in the Okavango Delta and ended the trip with a few days at the beach in Mozambique. The organization was perfect, Steffi took all our special wishes/ ideas into account, she was always good to reach (through email, the German landline or even via Skype or WhatsApp). The route and the hotels/ lodges/ Camps were chosen very well, and we were especially amazed by the camps in the delta. The assistance was very good and we can just recommend booking a trip with Gondwana. It was a great trip :)
