Upon arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, you will be welcomed by your guide and transferred to your hotel. After check-in and rest, begin a guided city tour depending on arrival time. Visit the National Museum of Ethiopia, home to the famous early human fossil “Lucy,” then continue to Mount Entoto for panoramic views of the capital. Explore Merkato, the largest open-air market in Africa, and optionally visit Holy Trinity Cathedral, an important religious and historical site. Overnight in Addis Ababa. Addis Ababa – Drive to Awash National Park
After breakfast, drive east from Addis Ababa through the scenic Great Rift Valley, passing volcanic hills, lakes, and traditional rural villages. Stop along the way for photography and landscape views. Arrive at Awash National Park in the afternoon and enjoy a short introductory game drive around the park area and Awash River surroundings. After breakfast, transfer back to Addis Ababa for your domestic flight to Lalibela. Upon arrival, meet your guide and begin exploring the first group of rock-hewn churches carved directly into volcanic rock. Visit Bet Medhane Alem, Bet Maryam, Bet Golgotha, and surrounding interconnected churches. Continue driving to Konso, a UNESCO World Heritage cultural landscape known for its terraced hills, ancient agricultural systems, and wooden totem statues called “Waga.” Proceed to Lake Chamo in the afternoon for a boat safari, where you will see large Nile crocodiles, hippos, and diverse birdlife.
