The Lemosho Route offers a gentle ascent, ideal for acclimatization and boosting summit success rates. Starting from Londorossi Gate, it passes through remote forests and the scenic Shira Plateau before joining the Machame Route. The trail is less strenuous in the early days, making it easier on your body. With fewer crowds and beautiful landscapes, Lemosho is a top choice for trekkers seeking a quieter, more gradual, and highly successful climb to the summit.

Tour step
You'll be collected from the airport. Accommodation before the tour starts can be arranged for an extra cost.
Day 1
At the break of dawn, our driver will collect you and transport you to Londorossi Gate (2,250 m), an approximately two-and-a-half-hour drive away. Upon gate registration, you'll ascend along a rugged track that winds through the dense rainforest to your trek's starting point. This moderately steep path guides you through a captivating and pristine natural forest, leading to Mkubwa Camp (2,800 m). Because this region hosts a variety of wildlife, an armed ranger will accompany you during the initial two days of your journey. Lunch & dinner (Breakfast not included) Non-alcoholic drinks
Day 2
Today you cover quite some distance as you trek across a plateau of grassy moorland and heather scattered with volcanic rock formations. We will trek through Shira 1 Camp from where there are often stunning views of Kibo Peak floating on the clouds as we head towards our destination, Shira 2. We gain a reasonable amount of altitude as we head towards Shira 1 and parts of the route are fairly steep. As you proceed towards Shira 2 you will get the chance to view the Northern Ice fields from the western side of the mountain with some unusual views of Kibo. Our steady climb across the moorland of the Shira Plateau will help with acclimatization and we enjoy the terrific panoramic views. All meals included Non-alcoholic drinks
Day 3
The Lemosho route converges with the Machame Route as it approaches the molten Lava Tower. The gradual ascent leading to Barranco Camp is adorned with captivating landscapes and adorned with vibrant desert shrubs (a 6-7 hour hike). Shark’s Tooth, an immense serrated rock formed by a volcanic eruption thousands of years ago, serves as a guidepost, signaling our southward journey across light valleys to the expansive Lava Tower (4,600m). Slowly, delicate specks of snow begin to scatter across the scenery, and as we descend to Barranco Camp, the frosted vistas of the Western Breach come into view. The ashen Barranco Wall showcases intricate grooves and is graced with olive foliage, creating what is referred to as the 'Breakfast Wall'. Rest up, tomorrow is an exciting day. All meals included Non-alcoholic drinks
Day 4
Today, you face the challenge of conquering the Barranco Wall. While certain sections may demand the use of your hands for improved grip, actual climbing is not required. Your guide will be right alongside you, offering assistance every step of the way. Our video demonstrates that the experience isn't as daunting as some blog posts might suggest. The route's series of ascents and descents serve as a valuable acclimatization opportunity before reaching the mountain ridge. Walking along this ridge allows you to absorb the stunning landscape, characterized by captivating contrasts between desert and vegetation. Eventually, you'll arrive at the mist-shrouded Karanga Camp, positioned at 4,035 meters (13,240 ft). Even through the clouds, Kibo remains visible, while the call of Uhuru Peak beckons. All meals included Non-alcoholic drinks
Day 5
Another day unfolds on the captivating slopes of Kilimanjaro. The meticulous acclimatization efforts you've undertaken are paying off. By maintaining a steady "pole pole" pace, the summit will draw near sooner than you realize. Today's journey leads you through arid desert terrain, with the imposing presence of Kibo on your left side. Although the distance covered is short, the altitude's effects will be noticeable, adding to the challenge. Embrace the gradual approach and heed the guidance of your knowledgeable guide(s). As this day concludes, anticipation builds for the significant day that lies ahead – an early night awaits for the journey that unfolds tomorrow. All meals included Non-alcoholic drinks
Day 6
Here is your summit day description edited to fit **within 900 characters**: Summit Day: Barafu to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp Wake up in the night to a light breakfast and warm drink. The air is thin, the cold bites, but you push forward. Guided by moonlight and headlamps, you climb to Stella Point (5–7 hrs). From there, a final 1–2 hrs to Uhuru Peak—the highest point in Africa. As the sun rises, the view is unforgettable. After photos and celebration, descend to Barafu Camp for rest and snacks, then continue to Mweka Camp. That evening, reflect—this morning you stood atop Kilimanjaro. One last wishy-washy, a warm dinner, and likely the tipping ceremony to thank your amazing crew. What a day! Let me know if you'd like it designed into a visual itinerary or guide. All meals included Non-alcoholic drinks
Day 7
The more you descend, the better your oxygen intake. The better your oxygen intake, the better your body and mind work. It’s all sinking now. You’ve ascended Kilimanjaro. You will once more trek through the rainforest, giving you another opportunity to spot the cheeky colobus monkeys, finally reaching the Mweka gate in about 2 – 3 hours. In Mweka, after some paperwork, another meal awaits you. While you’re at it, your guide will present you with your climbing certificate. Well done! After some good food and a celebration, you will be taken back to your hotel. It’s time to rest those legs. Jump in the pool, eat, drink and sleep. Breakfast & lunch (Dinner not included) Non-alcoholic drinks

5.0/5My wife and I (from Thailand and China) had the most amazing time in Tanzania with Zaqtu Safaris! We climbed Mount Kilimanjaro for 7 days through the Machame Route, and then enjoyed a 3-day safari in Serengeti. Everything was so well organized from the start. Our guides were kind, patient, and always encouraged us during the climb. The food and camp service were excellent, and the whole team took such good care of us,we really felt like family. The safari was truly unforgettable. We were lucky to see the Great Migration at the Mara River, with hundreds of wildebeests crossing such a once in a lifetime moment! We also saw lions, elephants, giraffes, and even a cheetah. Our guide David was very knowledgeable and made every day exciting and fun. Thank you, Zaqtu Safaris, for making our honeymoon adventure so special. We’ll never forget this amazing experience and highly recommend Zaqtu to anyone visiting Tanzania!

We (3 ladies and one child, 5 years old) booked our tour already last summer. It was our first Safari, and it was incredible what we got offered. We were picked up in Arusha and were already flashed in the beginning when we saw the car and met the tour guide Jimmy. Everything was organized so well. We first went to Tarangire, where we spent two nights. We could see so many animals, but most of all herds of huge elephants. It really is an elephants paradise. Jimmy, who luckily also speaks good German, could tell and explain us a lot about the wildlife and even plant world. The second day, we had an early morning drive. We really can recommend it! It made it possible we could see the migration of the gnu from Manyara National Park back to Tarangire national Park for the search of places to graze. So impressing! Later we drove to Ngorongoro, where we were able to chill at the pool of our second nice accommodation. Everybody is always everywhere so friendly! Karibu sana. The next day we had our drive to the Ngorongoro crater and we were so happy we also decided to come here. We saw the big 4 including the black rhino. To see a leopard in Ngorongoro is a 50/50 situation. This safari was really an incredible experience, all animals so close by in nature. We enjoyed spending the time with Jimmy. He is very experienced, full of knowledge and always friendly. We also laughed a lot, enjoyed our lunch package together and just made some breaks when necessary. All in all, we can highly recommend Zaqtu Safaris. They make it possible for you to spend an unforgettable time in Tanzania. Hope to come back. Thanks for everything, especially your organization of the trip and your kindness!
