Day 1
Moshi – Tarangire National Park
Begin your safari with a morning departure from Arusha/ Moshi, driving toward Tarangire National Park, known for its vast elephant herds and iconic baobab trees. Upon arrival, enjoy a full-day game drive through diverse habitats including savannah, woodlands, and riverine areas. You will have the opportunity to spot elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, lions, and a variety of bird species. A picnic lunch will be served inside the park as you continue exploring until late afternoon. Day 2
Karatu – Central Serengeti
After breakfast, depart from Karatu and journey through the scenic highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, enjoying breathtaking views of the crater and surrounding landscapes. Continue toward the endless plains of Serengeti National Park, with wildlife viewing en route. As you enter the Serengeti, the landscape opens into vast savannahs teeming with wildlife such as lions, elephants, cheetahs, and large herds of antelope. Arrive at your camp in the late afternoon. After an early breakfast, begin your journey north toward the Kogatende region, one of the best areas to witness the Great Migration river crossings. Enjoy a full-day game drive as you travel through changing landscapes, following wildlife movements across the Serengeti. The northern region is known for its proximity to the Mara River, where wildebeest and zebras face dramatic crossings while predators lurk nearby. Balloon Safari – Central Serengeti
Start your day with an early morning hot air balloon safari over the Serengeti plains, offering a unique aerial perspective of wildlife and landscapes at sunrise. After landing, enjoy a bush breakfast in the wilderness. Later, continue with a game drive as you head back toward central Serengeti, spotting wildlife along the way and enjoying the vast scenery. After breakfast, depart Serengeti and drive toward Lake Eyasi, located in a remote and culturally rich area. Upon arrival, visit the Hadzabe tribe, one of the last hunter-gatherer communities in Africa. Experience their traditional way of life, including hunting techniques, bush survival skills, and cultural practices. This offers a unique and authentic cultural interaction. Carla Winston was totally committed in every way to insure we had the time of our lives.
Our adventure began in Ghana and proceeded over a month or more to Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Victoria Falls and Cape Town with other areas in between. We excitedly visited many historical areas depicting the history of the slave Trade and other historical events. Along the way, we encountered and were impressively serviced by a number of tour guides and resort personnel who attended to our every need. The residential accommodations were surprisingly modern and more than sufficient for pleasant stays on the continent, in the resorts and in the hotels. The opportunities to experience the live animals were abundant and close up. I actually touched a lioness and fed zebras and giraffes. My wife and I were able to take numerous and close up pictures, enjoy nature and both a helicopter and air ballon tour. We enjoyed the most refreshing stay at a resort in Zanzibar which proved to be one of the best and many highlights of the entire tour. It proved to be a one of a lifetime adventure and we are still talking about it. And I am sure we will be for a long time to come for it has impacted our impression of Africa.
