Day 1
Arrival and Relaxation
You will arrive at Moi International Airport (MBA) or Ukunda Airstrip (UKD) and transfer to your Diani Beach resort. Check in, enjoy a welcome drink, and settle in. Spend the afternoon relaxing by the pool or on the beach, or take a stroll to enjoy the sunset. Have dinner at your resort. Day 2
Marine Adventure at Wasini Island
After breakfast, you will head south to Shimoni to board a traditional dhow. Embark on an excursion to look for dolphins and snorkel in Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park. Enjoy a Swahili seafood lunch on Wasini Island. Return to your resort in the late afternoon. Have a sundowner and then dinner at your hotel or a local restaurant. Adventure and Local Culture
Start the day with a morning activity such as a quad bike tour through local villages, a visit to the Colobus Conservation Center, or a visit to the Shimba Hills National Reserve for a mini-safari. In the afternoon, explore local markets for souvenirs or consider a glass-bottom boat tour. Optionally, take a sunset dhow cruise. Enjoy your last dinner at the coast. Day 4
Diani to Tsavo East National Park
Morning: After an early breakfast, depart your Diani resort around 6:00 AM. Drive north on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway toward Tsavo East National Park, famous for its "red elephants" and the Aruba Dam. Afternoon: Arrive at your lodge/camp in time for lunch. After relaxing, embark on an afternoon game drive in the park, searching for lion, buffalo, zebra, and a variety of birdlife. Overnight: Lodge or camp in Tsavo East. Morning: Enjoy an early-morning game drive in Tsavo East, then return to the lodge for breakfast. Check out and drive to the Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, a private conservancy near Tsavo West. Afternoon: Arrive at the iconic, stilt-built Salt Lick Safari Lodge in time for lunch. The lodge is known for its unique design and overlooks a floodlit waterhole, providing excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing right from your room or the lodge's bar area. Evening: Take an afternoon game drive within the sanctuary. Return to the lodge for dinner and a chance to see animals gathering at the waterhole at night. Overnight: Salt Lick Safari Lodge. Salt Lick to Tsavo West National Park
Morning: After breakfast, have a final short game drive in the sanctuary before departing for Tsavo West National Park, known for its diverse landscapes, from rocky outcrops to natural springs. Afternoon: Arrive at your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, explore key attractions such as the Mzima Springs, where you can walk to an underwater viewing chamber to see hippos and crocodiles, and the Shetani Lava Flows, a vast expanse of volcanic rock. The afternoon is dedicated to game drives in the park, which is famous for its large elephant herds and breathtaking photo opportunities with Kilimanjaro in the background (weather permitting). You will arrive in Nairobi in the late afternoon and be dropped off at your hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (NBO) for your departure flight. Solo traveller - experience of a lifetime!
I did a 3-night, 4-day safari with Baby Bird Safari as a female solo traveller, and honestly… it was unreal from start to finish. From the very beginning, Chris was excellent with communication during the booking process; super clear, friendly, and professional. Payment was easy too: half deposit upfront, half cash on the first day, which felt very straightforward. The trip itself felt like I’d visited three different countries in one safari. Amboseli National Park was absolutely unreal; the landscapes and wildlife were next-level and something I’ll never forget. One of the biggest highlights was staying in Tsavo West, where the lodge actually left meat out for leopards. Watching them come so close in the wild was insane; something I never imagined experiencing like that. The lodge in Ngutuni was outstanding and right next to a watering hole, so you could sit back and watch animals come and go. It felt peaceful, wild, and special all at once. As a solo female traveller, I felt completely safe the entire time. There was lots of laughter, cracking jokes, sharing music, and learning about different cultures; it felt relaxed, fun, and genuine. Truly an unreal experience, and I’m so grateful for it. Thank you so much, Baby Bird Safari. I’d recommend this tour to anyone without hesitation!
