Day 1
Arrival: Welcome to Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia! Hotel Check-In: Upon arrival, you'll be transferred to your hotel. You'll visit the National Museum of Ethiopia to see ancient artifacts, including the famous "Lucy" fossil. You'll explore Holy Trinity Cathedral and learn about the country’s Orthodox Christian history. You'll visit Mount Entoto for a panoramic view of Addis Ababa. You will explore the Merkato, one of Africa's largest outdoor markets. Overnight stay will be at Daamat. Day 2
Morning: You'll fly from Addis Ababa to Lalibela (around 1 hour). Check-In: Hotel check-in in Lalibela. In the afternoon, you'll explore Lalibela's Rock-Hewn Churches (UNESCO World Heritage Site), carved directly into the rock, including the famous Church of St. George. You'll visit Bet Medhane Alem and Bet Giyorgis, two of the most impressive churches. You'll wander through the ancient Jordan River in Lalibela. Overnight stay will be at Mountain View Hotel. Day 3
Morning: You'll visit the second group, Lalibela Church and which is a very beautiful rock-hewn church. You'll explore the Lalibela Museum for an overview of the history of the churches. Afternoon: Prepare to fly from Lalibela to Addis Ababa Evening: You'll enjoy a traditional Ethiopian dinner at a local restaurant with music and dance. Day 4
Morning: You'll fly from Addis Ababa to Semera (about 1 hour), the gateway to the Danakil Depression. Afternoon: You'll drive towards the Danakil Depression (about 4-5 hours). The landscape here is surreal and desolate, but incredibly beautiful. You'll visit the Afar Salt Mines, watch the Afar people mining and transporting salt in ancient ways. You'll see the Dallol Crater with its colorful, sulfurous springs and salt flats. All meals included Drinking water (Other drinks not included)
Day 5
Morning: You'll explore the Erta Ale Volcano, one of the most active volcanoes in the world. You can hike up to the volcano’s rim (it’s an overnight hike if you wish to see the lava lake, but a day hike can also be arranged depending on time). Afternoon: You'll visit the Salt Flats, the Afar people’s traditional home, and observe their lifestyle. You'll see the hot springs and colorful thermal features around the area. Day 6
Morning: You'll fly from Semera to Arba Minch, located near the Omo Valley. Check-in: You'll have a hotel check-in in Arba Minch. Afternoon: You'll visit the Nechisar National Park to Lake Chamo and get a chance to spot crocodiles, hippos, and various bird species. You will explore the Dorze Village, known for its unique houses and culture. The Dorze people are famous for weaving, and you can see how they produce their textiles.
