Day 1
After breakfast, your guide will pick you up your kigali hotel for a city tour visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial and Kimironko Market. These visits offer insight into Rwanda’s history and vibrant daily life. In the afternoon, drive east to Akagera National Park, enjoying scenic countryside views along the way. Arrive at your lodge in time for dinner and relaxation. Overnight at Akagera Transit Lodge or similar. Day 2
Begin the day with an early morning game drive to spot lions, giraffes, elephants, and antelopes across Akagera’s rolling savannah. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat safari on Lake Ihema, home to hippos, crocodiles, and colorful birdlife. Return to your lodge for dinner and an evening at leisure. Day 3
After breakfast, depart Akagera for Volcanoes National Park, traveling through Rwanda’s scenic countryside. Upon arrival, visit the Gorilla Museum (Dian Fossey Center) and the Gorilla Guardians Village to experience Rwanda’s traditional music, dance, and crafts. Overnight at Kinigi Cottages or similar. Day 4
After an early briefing by park rangers, embark on an unforgettable gorilla trekking adventure. Hike through dense rainforest to encounter one of the habituated gorilla families. Spend an hour observing their fascinating behavior before returning to the lodge for relaxation. Overnight at Kinigi Cottages or similar. Day 5
After breakfast, enjoy a guided trek to see the endangered golden monkeys in Volcanoes National Park. Later, transfer to Lake Kivu, a stunning freshwater lake on Rwanda’s western border. Day 6
Visit a local coffee plantation to learn about Rwanda’s world-famous coffee production from cultivation to cup. Participate in coffee tasting and meet local farmers. Day 7
After breakfast, depart Lake Kivu and drive south along the scenic Congo-Nile trail towards Nyungwe National Park. Enjoy stunning views of terraced hills and lakeside villages before checking into your lodge near the park. Overnight at Ken Barham Guesthouse or similar. Day 8
Start early for chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe Forest, one of Africa’s oldest rainforests. Witness these intelligent primates in their natural habitat. In the afternoon, take part in a canopy walk suspended high above the forest for breathtaking panoramic views. Overnight at Ken Barham Guesthouse or similar. Day 9
After breakfast, travel back to Kigali. En route, stop at the Ethnographic Museum in Butare (Huye) to learn about Rwandan history and culture, then visit the King’s Palace Museum in Nyanza. 5.0/5We had an absolutely phenomenal trip to Uganda. We had short time due to work constraints and our group was all arriving at different times. Aaron was the best host, he was prompt, easy to communicate with and so engaging. He made the pick up seamless and all the transport seamless. We also got to unexpectedly squeeze in an extra excursion to the golden back monkeys after an epic day with the silver back gorillas which was so special! The accommodations were good and food was fine as well. We really enjoyed every moment of the trip with him and he was very easy to work with and allowed us to stop for photos and other random detours.

Aron and team communicated clearly from the get-go and were very flexible accomodating our group. We had three different arrival times into Kigali, including a 2:00 AM arrival. Aron was on time to pick us up for each arrival, and had all the logistics including lodging and interim activities to keep us entertained. We then drove into Uganda from Rwanda and stayed at Lake Buyoni for a quick rest before heading to see the gorillas and we arrived just in time for our trek. Seeing the gorillas was amazing, and quite the adventure to get to. Safari 2 Gorilla drove us to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest over some rough roads, but the drive was also beautiful. We stayed at Bwindi, and Aron was to drop us off in Mbarara the following day. We didn't have any time constraints so Aron suggested we go to Mgahangi National Park to see the Golden Monkeys, which was considerably out of his way. Overall, I would highly recommend Safari 2 Gorilla. Aron knows western uganda like the back of his hand, and is an excellent tour guide.

Our group of 6 booked a gorilla trek with Safari 2 Gorilla Tours after being recommended to this company by a friend. We were not disappointed. Aron communicated with us regularly leading up to our trip and helped us plan the perfect trek. We were collected at our accommodation and looked after extremely well by our driver from pick up until drop off the following day. Aron planned our accommodation in the Bwindi Forest which was incredible. Our trek was an unforgettable experience and one I would highly recommend to anyone. I would have no hesitation in recommending Gorilla 2 Safari Tours to anyone wanting to experience the beauty of Uganda and all it has to offer.

This was my second experience with Safari 2 Gorilla Tours. As with the first, Aron was an incredibly prompt and clear communicator, going above and beyond in answering questions, which was greatly appreciated, and extremely friendly and welcoming throughout the process. He makes every step clear, and set us up for a truly unforgettable experience in Mgahinga tracking a family of gorillas, being flexible with our travel constraints throughout the organizing. On this trip, my only hesitation was the per person cost for full board at the Gorilla Trek Camp, a perfectly fine accommodation, but based on our experience just a bit pricey compared to options of the same quality in other parts of the country. As a whole, I do not hesitate to recommend this company for organizing your own excursions in southwest Uganda!
