Day 3
Let's explore the Great Zimbabwe, a medieval city in the southeastern hills of modern Zimbabwe, near Lake Mutirikwe and Masvingo. Established in the 4th century AD, it served as the capital of the Kingdom of Zimbabwe from the 13th century. Great Zimbabwe is believed to have been a royal palace for the local monarch, functioning as the seat of political power. Its most notable feature is its impressive walls, some reaching a height of 11m (36ft). In the mid-morning, we will depart from Great Zimbabwe and drive to Matobo National Park, situated south of Bulawayo, the second-largest city in Zimbabwe. The late afternoon will be at leisure, allowing you to enjoy the stunning landscape of the surrounding rock formations. Day 4
Matobo National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that offers a wealth of sights and experiences. The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including rhinos. Its landscape is characterized by impressive granite boulders, known as kopjes, which create a stunning visual appeal. Additionally, visitors can explore ancient San rock art, visit the grave of Cecil John Rhodes, and enjoy breathtaking views from various lookout points. It is a full day filled with surprises! Day 5
Hwange National Park is the largest national park in Zimbabwe and is home to a diverse range of wildlife native to the region. Located in western Zimbabwe, near the border with Botswana, it offers an exciting opportunity for exploration. Visitors can look forward to witnessing numerous wildlife activities around the waterholes, particularly large herds of elephants coming to drink. As Zimbabwe's largest national park, Hwange is also home to the Big Five—lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and buffalo. Other sightings include giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, greater kudus and various other antelope species. There is even a chance to observe lions hunting elephants in their natural habitat! Hwange National Park is also significant because it is part of the Kavango–Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area, which spans five countries, emphasizing its importance for wildlife conservation and biodiversity. Day 6
Today, you will enjoy a full-day game drive in the main park, complete with lunch and refreshments. You can choose your preferred picnic site for the lunch break. Hwange Safari Lodge is conveniently located near the beautiful entrance to Hwange National Park. You will likely see plenty of elephants and other wildlife here at the waterhole. The lodge is a popular and well-managed destination, boasting expansive grounds that border the park, friendly service, and modern, light-filled rooms. You can also relax at the bar, restaurant or swimming pool. Since the lodge is part of the main park, there are no boundaries, which allows the animals to roam freely around the area. Day 7
The trip will continue to Victoria Falls, one of the world's wonders and the widest waterfall. Conclude your day with a relaxing sunset cruise on the Zambezi River. As you glide up and down the river, you may spot various wildlife along the way. Experiencing Victoria Falls is a must-do adventure during your time in Africa. The memory of your first encounter with these majestic waterfalls, known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya, meaning 'the smoke that thunders,' is something you will never forget. It truly is an incredible sight! Mid-range lodge located at Victoria Falls Breakfast & dinner (Lunch not included) Drinks not included
Day 8
Visit Victoria Falls in either the morning or afternoon. You can choose between a guided tour or a self-guided walk, allowing ample time to explore the various viewpoints. The edge of the falls can be reached through the cool, moist tunnels of the rainforest, which are always shrouded in fine spray. This enchanting forest is home to various exotic plants that thrive in the humidity. Concrete paths have been constructed to prevent visitors from trampling the lip of the gorge. Enjoy your final dinner with us in the evening at the boma dinner drum show, which is one of the tour's highlights. We felt well advised by africa zim travel&tours even before booking. The whole tour went wonderfully. Times and agreements were honoured and our expectations of what we wanted to see were always met or exceeded. Mtho, our driver and sometimes guide, told us a lot about the countries, people and animals and had the patience to tell us the same thing sometimes four times if we didn't understand it or had already forgotten it. He always spread a good mood with his manner. He drove us safely over the sometimes bumpy and dusty roads. The selected hotels, rooms and meals were consistently good to luxurious. Overall, it was a varied and exciting trip and well worth the price.
