Day 1
Nairobi- Masai Mara National Reserve
Your driver-guide reports to your hotel for the start of the safari, with a departure for a picturesque drive descending the Great Rift Valley and onwards to Masai Mara, Kenya's famous game reserve. Stop briefly en route at the Great Rift Valley viewpoint to enjoy the stunning views of an enormous valley system said to be visible from outer space. You'll arrive in Masai Mara in time for lunch. After lunch, you'll go for an afternoon game drive, which will allow spotting of the magnificent wildlife in the park. The reserve is known for providing excellent predator sightings thanks to its relatively large population of lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Bordering Tanzania, the Mara is in the northern extension of the Serengeti and forms a wildlife corridor between the two countries. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at the camp. Day 2
Masai Mara National Reserve
You will be taken on two game drives today, in the morning before breakfast and the late afternoon. Early mornings and late afternoons are considered the best times to spot animals as they are most active. To get some of the best wildlife viewing of the day, an early start is needed to beat the heat of the sun. This is the time that the big cats are most active and can provide some of the most dramatic photography, thanks to the beautiful lighting. Although it might be tempting to stay in bed and wait until the afternoon to explore, I promise you this is a game drive you don’t want to miss. This is an experience that will surely create lifetime memories. If you are fortunate enough, you will catch lions during one of their rare bouts of daytime activities. It’ll be fascinating to watch the social interaction between pride members, especially the playful ways of lion cubs under the watchful eyes of their mothers. Day 3
Masai Mara- Lake Nakuru National Park
You will wake up early for a pre-breakfast morning game drive inside the park, an opportunity to spot animals that you might not have seen in the previous drive. After your return to the camp for a full breakfast, you will depart for Lake Nakuru through the Maasai plains and the Mau escarpments into the floor of the Rift Valley. You will arrive at the pink lake in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive. Lake Nakuru is one of several Rift Valley lakes whose ecosystem supports a wide ecological diversity, with flamingos and other water birds as the major attractions of the area. Other than birds, 56 different species of mammals exist in this ecosystem, including white rhinos and buffalo. Day 4
Lake Nakuru National Park- Lake Naivasha
After breakfast, you will depart Lake Nakuru heading to another adventurous drive in Lake Naivasha National Park. Lake Naivasha is famous for its high population of hippos and flamingos. Other animals to be seen here include giraffes, zebras, impalas, and waterbucks near Lake Naivasha, around Crescent Island, and Crater Lake Game Sanctuary. Interesting optional activities here to undertake at an extra cost are boat safaris to Crescent Island and a visit to the Crater Lake Game Sanctuary. Night game drives can be organized at Crater Lake, a great opportunity to see leopards, caracals, and many other elusive species. Lake Naivasha- Amboseli National Park
After your breakfast, you will depart in the morning heading to Amboseli National Park, arriving in time for lunch. Your guide will take you on an afternoon game drive for a clear evening view of the magnificent Mount Kilimanjaro. Amboseli National Park is situated due south of Nairobi. Most of the park consists of a dry, ancient lake bed and fragile grasslands with patches of acacia woodland, while in the southern area, there are several small, rocky, and volcanic hills. Around the swamps of Ol Kenya, Ol Tukai, and Enkongo Narok, the vegetation is lush with yellow-barked acacias and phoenix palms. You'll have an early breakfast at the lodge. On this day, you will enjoy full-day game drives with lunch being carried as picnic lunches during the safari. During the game drives, you will encounter various wildlife such as the African elephants, cheetahs, wildebeests, giraffes, ostriches, and many others. You get to enjoy views of wildlife such as the African red elephants, which are among the Big Five, zebras, giraffes, lions, buffaloes, ostriches, and wild dogs. I was referred to Arzoni Africa Safaris by a friend. My Canadian boyfriend informed me around June that he was planning to have spend a two weeks safari and beach relaxation in Kenya and Tanzania. Parks of his interest were Mara, Lake Nakuru, Samburu, Amboseli, Taita hills, Ol Pajeta and Lake Naivasha. Sam made our safari planning seamless and every request by my boyfriend and I were considered in the final itinerary. Overally, we had 10 days of safari and 4 nights in Zanzibar. The choice of accommodations was amazing and our expectations were met. Food was also excellent except in Elewana Tortilis (Amboseli) which were somewhat too spicy.
