You'll be collected from the airport. Accommodation before the tour starts can be arranged for an extra cost.
Day 1
You'll be met at Kilimanjaro Airport, where you'll be picked up and transferred to the Arusha Coffee Lodge, located in the foothills of Mount Meru. You may wish to spend your first day exploring the city of Arusha to get a taste of life in Tanzania. Around town, you'll see women in brightly coloured dresses, carrying baskets on their heads or selling avocados and roasting corn; and Maasai men in traditional shukas. Alternatively, you may wish to relax in the scenic mountain surroundings of your lodge, which has a luxurious swimming pool and on-site spa. The property is tucked away in a coffee plantation and there is also an option to take a tour of the plantation, if you wish. Luxury lodge located in Arusha (City) Dinner (Breakfast & lunch not included) Drinks not included
Day 2
After breakfast, you'll meet your guide and be transferred to Tarangire National Park to begin your safari adventure. Weave your way through the park to the rustic luxury of Kuro Tarangire Camp, which is in the heart of the national park. Kuro Tarangire is your home for the next two nights, it is set amid a grove of Acacia and Kigelia trees not far from the banks of the Tarangire River. Made up of just six spacious and stylish safari tents comfortably spaced out in the bushveld, it is located in a fantastic part of the park. You'll have a view of the rhythmic movement of wildlife traversing the park from the hills in the west to the swamps on the eastern side, and between the north and the south along the river line. Luxury tented camp located inside Tarangire NP All meals included All drinks (Premium wines & liquors might be excluded)
Day 3
With an early start you'll have the full day to experience Tarangire. Safaris in Tarangire are all about getting you right out there. Explore the swamps or through the woodlands in your custom designed vehicle, or head out on foot right from camp. Tarangire National Park is known for having the greatest concentration of wildlife outside of the Serengeti ecosystem. Named after the river that crosses through it, this park measuring around 1,100 square miles is located southwest of Arusha and is sometimes sadly missed by those heading for the more well-known of the national parks in Tanzania. One of the main draws of underrated Tarangire is that it is much quieter than many of Tanzania's parks and reserves, so your safari experience will be peaceful and more authentic. Included today is a night drive in the park, giving you a chance to search for elusive nocturnal wildlife. Luxury tented camp located inside Tarangire NP All meals included All drinks (Premium wines & liquors might be excluded)
Day 4
After breakfast, you'll you will game drive your way out of Tarangire and into Lake Manyara National Park on your way to the Ngorongoro Crater. Lake Manyara is home to herds of elephants, pods of bathing hippos and tree-climbing lions, among other big mammals. In the wet season, you'll also see the diverse varieties of bird species which migrate here, including flamingos. Lake Manyara's rich wildlife and vegetation, with environments ranging from marshes to savannahs, are not to be missed. Exit the park in the afternoon and enter the Ngorongoro Crater Area Authority (NCAA) and wind your way up the steep sides to your lodge on the remote western side of the rim. Luxury tented camp located on the crater rim of Ngorongoro Crater All meals included All drinks (Premium wines & liquors might be excluded)
Day 5
The Ngorongoro Crater was created when a large volcano collapsed over two million years ago. Today, the NCAA has UNESCO World Heritage Status due to the high concentration of wildlife and biodiversity in the region, including populations of endangered animals. The views from the crater rim are spectacular, while a descent to the crater floor will see you observing grazing gazelle, stomping zebra and bathing hippos in Lake Magadi. Predators include spotted hyenas, lions and both black and golden-backed jackals. A descent into the crater is a humbling experience and a favourite for even seasoned safari enthusiasts. Luxury tented camp located on the crater rim of Ngorongoro Crater Breakfast (Lunch & dinner not included) Non-alcoholic drinks & spirits/liquor (Beer and wine not included)
Day 6
If the focus of the time in the Serengeti is to seek out the Great Migration, then depending on the time of year we will suggest the right accommodation and area. However, during peak season from July-October, the northern Serengeti is a great bet and today you will bid your private guide farewell at Lake Manyara Airstrip for your flight north. The flight itself is a wonderful experience and keep a look out for the shapes and shadows of elephant, giraffe and herds of zebra and wildebeest as you cross the Serengeti. Upon arrival at Kogatende Airstrip, you will be met by a guide from Lamai Serengeti, your camp for the next three nights. Lamai Serengeti sits tucked amongst the rocks of the iconic Kogakuria Kopje. There are panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and for roughly a quarter of the year, between late July and October, this is where you'll find the migration, right on your doorstep. Luxury+ tented camp located inside Northern Serengeti NP All meals included All drinks (Premium wines & liquors might be excluded)
Day 7
You have two full days to enjoy shared safari activities in the Serengeti, Tanzania’s most famous national park and a name synonymous with wildlife watching and limitless horizons. The Serengeti is where you can witness the Great Migration: the largest terrestrial mammal migration in the world, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa and one of the 10 Natural Travel Wonders of the World. Millions of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle and other herbivores complete an annual circuit up to Kenya's Masai Mara and then back down to the Serengeti. The ancient cycle is known as "The Greatest Show on Earth." With stalking predators and stomping masses of wildebeest and zebra, a trip to the Serengeti is a must for any Tanzania safari. Luxury+ tented camp located inside Northern Serengeti NP All meals included All drinks (Premium wines & liquors might be excluded)
Day 9
After a final chance for a safari, in the Serengeti you will be transferred to the airstrip in time for you flight south back to Arusha or Kilimanjaro Airport. Depending on your preferences and available flight times, you may wish to spend one more night in the city, or arrive in time for an evening flight. Breakfast & lunch (Dinner not included) Drinks not included

5.0/5We had a wonderful trip to Tanzania combining the national parks of Nyerere and Ruaha and the beach on Zanzibar. Communication with Jess and Thea at Wayfarer was great and everything worked smoothly for us with flights and transfers all on time- even in the remote area of Ruaha. Having done safaris in more popular areas we wanted the less frequented areas of Tanzania and weren’t disappointed. Mdonye old river camp in Ruaha is a distance from anywhere but you really do feel you have the park to yourselves- maybe spotting another vehicle from the camp is the only other vehicle you are likely to see- and great wildlife spotting- particularly lion and leopard. Lake Manze in Nyerere a different area of habitat but again few other vehicles. Both camps are rustic but quite comfortable and both catered superbly for my wife’s gluten and dairy intolerance . Breezes on Zanzibar was very good with superb staff service. Just great to chill out there after the safari week. Wayfairer catered well for the type of trip we were looking to do

My husband and I plus one of our adult daughters spent three weeks in southern Africa - Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana and South Africa. Wayfairer listened to us and planned an extraordinary adventure. Every hotel, meal, transfer, flight, activity, was on time and exceeded expectations: Devils pool in Zambia was an absolute highlight - breakfast trip and the best coffee we had in three weeks, Bike tour of Victoria Falls gave us the lay of the land and the rainforest walk clearly demonstrated why you should not do the Devils Pool (as you view it from the Zimbabwe side - but do it anyway - the double rainbow as you look over the 110 metre drop is totally worth it!) . The Zambezi river cruise is also a delight as we paused mid river to allow a herd of around 40 elephants to swim across. The young bulls at the back wrestling with each other the entire way showed unexpected athleticism from these huge animals. Botswana was simply sublime. The government has supported and fostered a community tourist industry which 'adopts' you on entry. Chobe Game Lodge was our first stay - here you get the most exquisite animal encounters. An early game drive starts each day where we saw big cats - three prides of lions, an elusive leopard (remember to look in the trees!), giraffes, water buffalo, many antelopes and an array of beautiful birds. The all female guides are knowledgeable and determined to find whatever you want to see. This Lodge has the added advantage of location on the Chobe River so, you cruise after lunch - Crocodiles, Eagles, Hippopotamus, Baboons and hundreds of elephants! Then, the late afternoon game drive brings out the 'thirsty multitudes' as they prepare for the cooler evening and their search for dinner or their preparation to hide from becoming dinner! Three nights at Chobe then off to Camp Okavango in the delta - the flight in is a hoot - thermals off the desert create turbulence so it is a little rocky at times but the planes are well maintained and the pilots friendly and competent. We spent three nights at Camp Okavango amongst much song from the delightful staff. Nature walks each morning and river boats in the afternoon provided an entirely different animal experience - as we felt part of the landscape now. We walked through the animals environment and this ground level trek became our favourite adventure: warthogs and their litters feeding, antelopes, jackals, hyenas, elephants and of course hippo's. The guides were locals so they had thorough knowledge of this incredible, biodiverse environment. The delta is so full of life and a must do for any trip to Africa. We completed our trip in Cape Town staying at Seapoint and renting a car to travel around. In contrast to Johannesburg, Cape Town felt safe and welcoming. Driving is easy and the roads are readily navigable: highlights here were the climb up Lions Head (took us around 50 minutes to climb up - view is Wow!), Table Mountain cable, Cape of Good Hope and of course the Wine. Thank you Wayfairer - we are already deciding our next destination with you.

We went to South Africa & Mauritius for 2 weeks.. It was a complicated tour which includes city tour, safari and beach holiday. Wayfairer organized everything greatly. We never faced with any delays or issues throughout the stay. They were always in touch to make sure we are doing well. Many thanks to everyone, special thanks to Eleanor & Ruth!

We've never used a tour operator for a holiday before but felt a bit intimidated about booking our first safari as we felt there was a mountain of inside knowledge we didn't have. Wayfairer gave us some absolutely essential advice about our options and this is the main reason we chose them above all the other operators. Then, once we had committed, not only did they understand exactly what we wanted and how to make it happen, but also provided unbelievable value for money while doing it. We had the experience of a lifetime and every detail was perfectly calibrated to the holiday we had asked for. I don't think you can get a better experience, with staff who are so knowledgeable and look after you so well, anywhere else. I would recommend Wayfairer to anyone and would definitely use them again in a heartbeat.
