Day 1
Nairobi / Lake Nakuru
On arrival at JKIA in Nairobi, you will be met by our representative. Depending on your arrival time, we will either take you to your hotel in the city or depart for a drive into the Great Rift Valley and on to Lake Nakuru National Park in the late morning. Lake Nakuru is one of the several Rift Valley lakes and its ecosystem supports a wide ecological diversity with flamingos (greater and lesser) and other waterbirds being the major attractions of the area. The ecosystem provides for about 56 different species of mammals including the white rhino, buffalo, and a variety of terrestrial birds numbering nearly 450 species. The park is truly remarkable as it has achieved international fame as an animal sanctuary where both black and white rhinos are being given a new lease on life in this park. You will check in at Lake Nakuru Lodge and have lunch. Go for a game drive in the evening which will include a walk by the shores of the lake to get up close with the many birds found here. Day 2
Nakuru / Lake Naivasha
Have a leisurely breakfast at the lodge, enjoying the sights and sounds of the park before proceeding for a drive in the park. In the late morning, you will head to the nearby Lake Naivasha, a fresh-water lake that is a popular tourist spot. Check in at Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge and relax after lunch. The lodge at the lake offer beautiful natural spaces where you can see numerous bird species in the trees as well as spot some animals, ranging from waterbuck to warthog. You may also choose to book a one-hour boat safari (at extra cost) during which you get to see some of the lake's wildlife such as hippos as well as enjoy the picturesque views of the lake and surrounding highland landscapes. In the late afternoon, you can visit Crescent Island where you get to walk in the park to see animals such as giraffes, zebras, and antelopes. Naivasha is also known for the many birds within the lodge grounds. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge. Day 3
Lake Naivasha / Masai Mara National Park
We’ll be up early to enjoy the light breaking over the forest and lake, hearing the birds, and seeing the animals come to life. Enjoy an early breakfast followed by the drive to the Masai Mara. With the expanse of the Masai Mara National Reserve spread out before us, you’ll know you have arrived at a special place. It is Kenya’s most popular park. The reserve is world-famous for its incredible density of wildlife, and during the great migration (July – October), an unending torrent of gazelle, wildebeest, and zebra stream into the park. It is home to all of Africa’s Big Five and so much more. Arrive at the park for lunch at Mara Sopa Lodge. Enjoy an afternoon game drive to track elephants, leopards, cheetahs, lions, and buffaloes. Day 4
Explore Mara
This is a day of unlimited game drives - one in the morning before breakfast and the other in the late afternoon. Early mornings and late afternoons are considered the best times to spot animals as they are most active. To get some of the best game viewing of the day, an early start is needed. This is the time that the big cats are most active and can provide some of the most dramatic photography, thanks to the beautiful lighting. If you are fortunate enough, you will catch lions during one of their rare bouts of daytime activities and it’ll be fascinating to watch the social interaction between pride members, especially the playful ways of lion cubs under the watchful eyes of their mothers. An optional hot-air balloon safari can be arranged at an extra cost. Your guide will then take you to the nearby Maasai village after breakfast where you will get a chance to see the Maasai way of life (optional). Commitment and service delivery at its best!
We took a 6 day safari covering Masai Mara, Lake Nakuru & Amboseli national park. The tour was well planned by Charles and executed by Jared our guide. We managed to see all the big 5 both in Mara and Amboseli among other predators and grazers. We also saw hippo and crocodiles at Mara river. Jared knew the best routes to warrant sighting of of the wildlife. His sense of humour was amazing and he was always patient with us. Salina Wild Adventures did a commendable job. Highly recommended.
