Overview
On this tour, you will be able to explore Nyungwe National Park a home to the Chimpanzee and Volcanoes National Park to trek the majestic Mountain Gorillas of Rwanda. These two parks are approximately 6 hours drive from each by road and for clients preferring short transfers an option to use a domestic flight from Kigali to Nyungwe is available daily departing at 07h00 (40 minutes) and a helicopter option from Kamembe Airport to Volcanoes Airstrip can be arranged (extra cost).

Day 1
Arrival/Transfer from Kigali to Nyungwe National Park
Morning: Arrival at Kigali International Airport, our representative will warmly welcome you and lead you to the VIP lounge, assist with all the immigration procedures, sort your luggage and later introduce you to your driver guide. Proceed on a scenic drive to South Western Rwanda where Nyungwe National Park is located with an en route stop at the Ethnographic Museum. Arriving at Munazi Eco Lodge later in the afternoon, assisted with check in followed by lunch. Rest of the day is at leisure or decide to do the Gisakura Tea Factory visit (extra cost) Dinner and overnight stay. Day 2
Chimpanzee Trekking
The day begins bright and early, driving to the park headquarters at 05h00 with a delicious packed breakfast. After an insightful chimpanzee trek briefing, you’ll be escorted to the Evergreen Forest and the adventure begins. During the trek, you are likely to spot a wide variety of bird life, monkeys, reptiles and a wide range of plant species. Their playfulness and human–like characteristics make this journey so rewarding. You may even be welcomed by chimp morning calls deep in the forest. Upon encountering the chimps, you will enjoy their acrobatics, feeding, and day-to-day behaviors. Later return to the lodge for lunch. Day 3
Optional Zip Line & Canopy Walk/Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Breakfast at the resort, check out and settle any extras. You have an option to do the Zipline and Canopy Walk experience (extra cost) which start at 08h00. Both experiences take about 2 hours to finish. Later embark on a scenic drive to Volcanoes National Park. You will have lunch en route at a recommended restaurant before proceeding to Musanze, arrive in the evening, check in at Tiloreza Volcanoes Eco Lodge, freshen up and relax. Day 4
Gorilla Trekking Experience
Early breakfast at the lodge then proceed to the park headquarters in time for Gorilla Trek briefing which starts at 07h00. After the briefing and allocation of gorilla families and park guides, drive to the start point of your guided walk that begins at 08h00. A gorilla family is led by a silverback and the troops also include several younger males, adults, juvenile females, and infants. The Silverbacks schedule feeding trips, resting time, and other movements. They also father the majority of the young in the group. After this memorable experience, you will return for your lunch and in the afternoon you have an option to do a cultural experience (extra cost) or just relax at the resort. Optional Golden Monkey Trek/Transfer to Kigali for Departure
On this day, you will have breakfast, check out and settle any extras. There's an option to do Golden Monkey trekking (extra cost) if you have a late evening departure back home. Our booking was originally planned for three weeks – a complete tour up to Gisenyi (for 6 people). Unfortunately, our five-year-old son became ill and was very unwell for 14 days. During this difficult time, we were not alone – you never left us on our own. For this, my entire family would like to say thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The Everetret team quickly organized a new plan: story time and 🤗 small activities to provide distraction. Healthy children and girls were taken on short outings (not far from Kigali), and every day brought something new. This allowed my husband and me to fully focus on caring for our little son. In the last week of our stay (after the 14 days), we were also able to enjoy a short break ourselves. We will see you again in August.
