Windhoek to Kalahari Region

Day 2

Windhoek to Kalahari Region

After a hearty breakfast, you will travel south through the Auas Mountains via Rehoboth and Kalkrand to your accommodation. Like so many towns in Namibia, Rehoboth was built around a mission station. It was founded in 1844 by Heinrich Kleinschmidt and abandoned in 1864. When the Basters settled here in 1870 the mission was reopened. The Rehoboth Basters are a crossbreed of the relations between Boers from the Cape Province and Nama women. They moved from the Cape Province to the Orange River in the 19th century. You will continue your journey into the Kalahari. The Kalahari Desert forms a large part of eastern Namibia and stretches about 500km from north to south. Included activities • Afternoon Game drive • Hiking Your overnight stay will be at Suricate Kalahari Tented Lodge. Day 3

Kalahari to Sossusvlei

Today you will journey to the Namib Desert. After breakfast, you will leave the Kalahari Desert and drive via Maltahöhe towards Sesriem. On the way, the beautiful landscapes give you an idea of what to expect. The unbelievable vastness of the Namib Desert with isolated inselbergs and dune landscapes. Long and narrow, the Namib stretches over 1900 km from the South African Cape Province up to Angola. It is considered one of the oldest deserts on earth. Two year-round water-bearing rivers cut through the Namib. The Kunene forms the northern border and the Orange River the southern border of Namibia. In the driest areas, it extends up to 200 km inland. Perched above the plains of the Namib Desert and tucked away in the rocky Aus Mountains, the small village of Aus is located in the ǁKaras Region in southern Namibia. Included activities • Sundowner Desert Drive Your overnight stay will be at Desert Camp. Mid-range self catering accommodation located less than 1hr drive from Sossusvlei (Sand Dunes) All meals included Drinks not included

Day 4

Sossusvlei

Today, you will have an early departure to Sossusvlei and the opportunity to climb one of the world’s highest sand dunes. The unique color example of the dune landscape will inarguably impress you, and you will undoubtedly be able to take beautiful photographs here. Sossusvlei is a dune wonderland, with towering dunes up to 300m high encircling a massive dried-up pan. Dunes stretch as far as the eye can see, with rich hues ranging from pale apricots to vivid reds and oranges. The Tsauchab River flows into the pan during a good rainy season, creating a haven for water birds. Oryx, springbok, and ostriches can be seen feeding on the sparse vegetation along the watercourses even during the dry season. Included activities • Morning excursion to Sossusvlei and Dead Vlei ( Deadvlei, Big Daddy, Dune 45) Your overnight stay will be at Desert Camp. Day 6

Swakopmund

Namibians adore Swakopmund as a welcome respite from the inland heat. It is also popular amongst visitors due to its old-world charm and relaxed atmosphere. It was founded in 1892 during the German colonial period and served as the territory’s main harbor for many years. The distinct German colonial character has been well preserved, and many of the old buildings now serve a practical purpose. The Woermann House (1905) is now a gallery. Previously, the Woermann Tower was used to monitor ships entering the harbor. Other historic buildings worth seeing include “Die Alte Kaserne,” “Hohenzollern Haus,” and the Railway Station Building. Included activities • Township tour Optional Activities • Quad biking and Sandboarding Your overnight stay will be at Pebble Stone House. After breakfast, you will drive via Hentiesbaai and Uis to Damaraland. This vast desert landscape is known as one of the most beautiful regions in Namibia. Huge, untamed, and ruggedly beautiful, Damaraland is an exceptionally scenic landscape featuring open plains, ancient valleys, and spectacular rock formations. The major attractions are the sacred Spitzkoppe, the Brandberg, Twyfelfontein, Vingerklip, and the otherworldly Petrified Forest. You will take in the dramatic vistas, catch a glimpse of the rare desert-adapted elephant, and enjoy spectacular stargazing in crystal-clear night skies from one of the many safari camps dotting Damaraland. The current size of Etosha National Park is 22,270 square kilometers. Great tour company and amazing value for money

Booked a 6 day tour from Windhoek to Etosha National park (2n), Swakopmund (1n) and Sossusvlei (2n), all accommodation camping included, food, transport, guide. It was simply amazing and great value for money. Our guide/driver Martin was like family to us. Took good care of us at all time. The tour company was great too and very accommodating, friendly and good communication throughout the process. Definately recommend the tour company and tour itself.

An excellent overview of Namibia in a short period of time!

The 6-Day Etosha, Swakopmund & Sossusvlei tour exceeded my every expectation. My guide, Henzel, was highly professional, engaging, and had a great sense of humor. He made my solo tour not only informative but fun as well. The tour provided the highlights of Namibia within a short time span without feeling rushed. I appreciated the mix of history, nature, and adventure that the itinerary provided. The amount of wildlife seen in Etosha National Park was incredible. I was able to see lions, rhinos, zebras, elephants, a honey badger, and so, so many more. The campgrounds used for lodging, while not luxurious, provided running hot water for showers and good food at the camp restaurants, which was glorious after an adventure-filled day. I do recommend wearing layers as it's cold at night in the winter months as well as bringing a power bank/portable battery charger for convenient charging of electronics. I appreciate Henzel and everyone else at Safari World Tours who made my time in Namibia a once in a lifetime experience!

"Must have" tour for a Namibia smooth visit!

We did the "7 Days Wildlife Etosha and Sossusvlei Namibian Safari (Accommodated)" with Safari World Tours in December 2023 and it was the best choice for our family! We are experienced travelers (49 countries visited) and found that to travel to Namibia with a small child (4 years old) a tour would the the best option, which now we can recommend 100%. First we asked for the budget and itinerary, then we booked the tour and exchanged a lot of information and Safari World Tours was always very fast to answer and provided all the details we needed. Very professional and trustworthy, their representatives made us feel even before leaving that the trip was well organized. They had a child seat for our daughter to use in the car and were always on time for all the appointments. Our guide Henzel was amazing, the perfect balance between being professional, funny, enthusiastic, informative, knowladgeable and trustworthy. He took care of us the whole trip, drove safely, knew all the local details, assumed the arrangements and left us with the easy task of just enjoying ourselves and this beautiful country. We thought 7 days would feel rushed, but it really didn't. We visited all the places we wanted and still had time to relax by the pool, beach or restaurants. Did some great extra activities as well. All the accommodation booked was high standard and the food was delicious. Couldn't recommend this company more and their responsibility for the success of our Namibia trip! Ask for Henzel, go with your family and you won't regret it ;)
